Snorkelers find fewer chinook salmon - Sunday, 22 August 2010 The results of the annual snorkel survey of spring-run chinook salmon in Butte Creek shows a low number of fish from Centerville Head Dam to the Honey Run Covered Bridge.
The snorkel count estimate was 1,160, which is lower than last year. Another count, this time counting salmon carcasses after the fish spawn and die, will be taken in the fall. Read more... Deputies raid four marijuana plots, eradicate 4,450 plants - Monday, 26 July 2010 HONEY RUN — Butte County Sheriff's deputies discovered and eradicated marijuana from four plots in the Honey Run area east of Chico today. While some of the plants appeared to have already been harvested, deputies eradicated 4,450 plants from the sites, according to a press release from the Butte County Sheriff's Office.
