Fish Tales: Swimming With Salmon

Last weekend, I was standing in a circle of people and could feel the sweat trickle down the back of my neck. It was hot during our visit to Chico and coming from foggy Humboldt County did not prepare me for it, but the cold drink in my hand helped me enjoy it. “Oh Casey, you have to come out to our property tomorrow and swim with my salmon,” Maria said. I saw a few nods of agreement around the circle as I thought, “my salmon?”

Be Seen! Get A Reflective Address Sign!

Have you noticed? Everyone's got one! (Hint: look on mailbox posts)

The Butte Creek Volunteer Fire Department is offering durable, reflective address signs to clearly mark your residence. This can be particularly critical during an emergency.

The signs are available as one-sided ($15) or two-sided ($20), in either a vertical or horizontal.

What Is The Canyon-Network?

The Canyon-Network is an online community of residents and friends of Butte Creek Canyon, with an emphasis on preserving the natural beauty, history, and community of the Canyon.

This is a grass-roots effort at creating a way for the Butte Creek Canyon community to come together. The Canyon is a wonderful place, but the rural environment can make for a distant relationship between even the nearest neighbors. Our hope is that this virtual community will help strengthen the physical one.
