Taking offense to a Del Oro Water Company letter, the Paradise Irrigation District approved a written response after toning down what was admittedly written originally with more emotion.

The Paradise Irrigation District Board of Directors voted unanimously Wednesday in favor of its manager's letter responding to Del Oro's criticism of the district's proposal to changes its water rights permits to include an expansion. While no changes were made to a general letter responding to nine letters from concerned residents, the board opted to soften the district's originally harsher letter to Del Oro.

District Manager George Barber admitted the original draft letter was written after taking some "umbrage" to a Del Oro attorney's letter. However Barber said the very reason for seeking board approval was to determine the district's position. Del Oro's letter to the district called PID's project, to expand its sphere of influence, place of use and terms of use, unnecessarily large, impractical and expensive.
